About Momentum Mentoring

Momentum Mentoring is a professional youth mentoring service based in Hertfordshire. This page explains what we do, how we work, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Who we are

Direct mentoring, personal commitment

Momentum Mentoring was founded by Dave because he believed there was a better way to support young people — one built around genuine relationship rather than tick-box intervention. Dave provides mentoring directly, which means the young people Momentum works with get his full attention, his real commitment, and the consistency that can make a real difference.

Dave, Founder & Lead Mentor

Founder & Lead Mentor

Dave

Dave founded Momentum Mentoring after years of working directly with young people in Hertfordshire. He has experience supporting young people who are disengaged from education, dealing with family difficulties, struggling with confidence and mental health, or at risk of exclusion. He works with young people aged 10–18 and is committed to the kind of long-term, consistent mentoring that produces real change.

How Momentum ensures quality and safety

Enhanced DBS check

Dave holds a current Enhanced DBS certificate, renewed regularly. Families and schools can request to see this at any time.

Safeguarding

Dave is trained in safeguarding and follows Hertfordshire's multi-agency safeguarding procedures. The safety and welfare of every young person is the first priority in all decisions.

Professional indemnity insurance

Momentum Mentoring holds professional indemnity insurance, providing appropriate cover for the mentoring service.

Confidentiality and data protection

Momentum Mentoring operates in compliance with UK GDPR. Young people and families are fully informed about how their information is used and stored, and confidentiality is taken seriously.

Transparent practice

Dave maintains clear records of sessions and progress, shares regular updates with families and schools, and is open about what is and isn't working. Transparency is built into how Momentum operates.

Working within limits

Mentoring is not therapy, and Dave is clear about that. Where a young person needs clinical or specialist support, Dave will say so and work alongside — or help connect to — the appropriate services.
